You can turn into a raven and soar through the air to travel quickly across the island. After a short tutorial you are then given an hour to do as you please across the entire island. The demo build of Ravenbound is very impressive. It won’t be easy though, and the game features permadeath, but the strength of the Raven will pass on to your next character. Your mission is to restore order to the island of Ávalt, grow your Raven’s power and eventually free the gods. Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer during the closed Beta sign up, in Ravenbound you become the vessel of the Raven – an ancient weapon created by imprisoned gods. However, its combat, world design, enemy variety, Hatred system, towns, NPCs, performance, environmental effects and more still need some serious work, and that’s before adding any new mechanics or variety to the gameplay.Ravenbound is an open world action RPG adventure with roguelite elements, that draws inspiration from Scandinavian folklore as you become a warrior imbued with magical raven powers. Thoughts- Ravenbound could still very well live up to its potential as a rogue-lite-hack-and-slash-meets-3D-open-world. Combat gets repetitive quickly, and some mechanics are spotty.
Hatred system limits freedom of exploration while unfairly increasing difficulty. Towns are underdeveloped with little to no personality among NPCs. Points of interest are fairly repetitive with nothing but fighting. Bad- No in-game map, which makes revisiting some areas difficult.
